Today we thought we would tell you more about Rob Swan - the Tech Lead and Team Leader of that infamous "Do It Better" team because Rob's journey from Sydney's classrooms to Lovelight's tech hub in Melbourne is truly a testament to the transformative power of passion and innovation. 

Rob's early days as a teacher and tech support specialist laid a solid foundation for his role at Lovelight, but it was his adventurous spirit that led him to Melbourne and ultimately to us. "Joining Lovelight was a leap into a new city, a new life, and a role that challenged me to harness technology in ways I hadn't before," Rob shares, reflecting on his decision to move for love and a new career opportunity. 

Every day for Rob begins with a team huddle, a moment to connect, address roadblocks, and foster a supportive environment that enables his team to excel. From there, his day is a vibrant tapestry of technical problem-solving, strategic meetings, and hands-on development work, all aimed at driving Lovelight's technological prowess. 

One project that stands out to Rob is the extension of Lovelight's Slack integration to track reaction timestamps. "It was like venturing into uncharted territory, utilising data in a novel way that enriched our internal communications and workflows," Rob explains, his eyes lighting up at the memory of the successful implementation.

However, not all challenges are straightforward. The integration of MYOB into Lovelight's operations was a task that tested Rob's skills and resilience. "Navigating an external system, building robust integrations, and ensuring seamless operations was daunting, but the lessons learned were invaluable," Rob admits, emphasising the growth that comes from facing and overcoming technical hurdles.

At the heart of Rob's role in both the DIB team and in life is the desire to make a tangible difference. "It's incredibly rewarding to see my team members have their 'aha' moments, to streamline operations and eliminate tedious tasks, allowing everyone to focus on what truly matters," Rob says, his commitment to improvement and efficiency palpable.

For Rob, technology is more than just code and systems; it's about empowering people, fostering innovation, and shaping a future where Lovelight continues to lead the industry, not just in quality window furnishings but in technological advancements that redefine the customer experience.
