Truly Fitzroy
One of the reasons our partners love engaging our help on their design projects, is the fully customisable and bespoke solutions we can offer. The ability to tailor the design function and form of Lovelight products means we can integrate window furnishings into a project that are not just consistent with a designer’s unique vision, but actually help to enhance the design itself and allow light to take a space to the next level.
For any interior designer with a distinctive creative vision, the freedom bespoke offerings provide will be vitally important. Never was this truer, than when we worked with Melbourne interior design powerhouse Flack Studio – known for their eclectically artistic design flair – on a colourful project in one of the city’s trendiest suburbs.
Situated in North Fitzroy, this private residence was a Victorian terrace with all the character these Melbourne homes are known to exude. Through masterful renovation from Flack studio, alongside long-time Lovelight partners S&K Group and Lisa Breeze, a contemporary feel has been injected into the house, where modern industrial features dominate common spaces but Victorian fireplaces and ceiling cornices remind of the home’s heritage in the bedrooms. Flack Studio set out to bring the space to life through furnishings and colour palettes as fittingly eclectic as the architecture itself, and integrated a range of Lovelight products into their aesthetic, helping add softness and warmth to contrast sharp architectural lines and industrial fittings.
Timber Venetian Blinds with Black Tape - monochromatic and linear, adding to the kitchen's industrial feel.
Through common areas from the kitchen and dining to shared bathrooms, Lovelight timber venetian blinds are at home alongside the crisp linear patterns cast by ceiling vaults or square tiles. Monochrome, understated and functional, they play a key part in bringing a contemporary touch to the Victorian home. In softer spaces, from the living room to the upstairs bedrooms, our S-Fold curtainsoffer privacy to the residential home, whilst also letting soft, warm light fill the space throughout the day.

For a project dubbed by Flack the “Pink and Green Team”, it’s fitting that colour should be a standout feature of the finished design. Flack wanted to introduce a degree of femininity to the spaces, particularly in common zones where industrial joinery and fittings had created a cool, masculine feel. Their contrast of pastel pinks with rich forest greens and touches of deep navy achieved this beautifully. The S-Fold curtains that dress the windows were made in light, natural toned linens by Zepel fabrics to compliment the palette beautifully and allow softened light to enhance the mix of colour in each room.

Once complete, what struck us about this project was how at home the design and styling is in the house’s neighbourhood. Integrating just the right products, and design elements, from colour to fabric choice, from a unique piece of art to the right couch or dining setting, the team involved in the project have brought together the eclectic and achieved real harmony - bohemian styling at its best. With a rich mix of the old and new, the urban and the artistic, any Melburnian could attest, this home is truly ‘Fitzroy’.
