“One of the most exciting parts of our customer's journey is attending our MyChoice Design Studio. This immersive experience allows them to familiarise themselves with every element that brings their new home to life. This is where we first introduce them to Lovelight’s window furnishings.”

Since Lovelight first became “Lovelight” (which you can read about here) one of our most important relationships has been with some of Australia’s largest builders. This month we chatted with Nathan Thurston, the Group Marketing Manager at the MJH Group, which operates throughout New South Wales, South East Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia and the ACT across housing brands such as McDonald Jones, MOJO Homes, Brighton Homes, Weeks Homes and Wilson Homes. Nathan gave us an insight into the journey his clients take when selecting the interior elements of their new homes.

Nathan described how their customer journeys usually begin in showhomes such as their  newest designs from their Stuart Everitt Portfolio  -'Retreat' at Waterford Living. The Hamptons style home is intended to represent “the ultimate coastal beach house. With classic lightweight cladding, natural timber flooring and a whitewashed colour palette. When entering these show homes the MJH Group hopes to appeal to growing families looking for flexible living spaces, open plan living and entertaining by invoking a “breezy, relaxed space with holiday vibes.”

Along with the Velux skylights set in the raked ceiling of the dining and living area, one of the main elements which add to the “relaxed breezy Sunday afternoon feel” of this home are the “full height floor to ceiling Sheer S-Fold Curtains in Warwick Sardinia, Chalk. They also add a touch of luxury to the coastal styling of the home.”

After viewing this, or one of their other display homes, MJH leads their customers through a three part guided design process in their “MyChoice Design Studio.” This begins with an “Initial walkthrough, where our interior designers introduce customers to all the selections available for their new home. At this stage, we make our customers aware of Lovelight and the window furnishings available.

From there MJH customers are given an open invitation to browse the design studio at their own leisure, “this allows them to better familiarise themselves with each item and spend time discussing selections that they like. While this is an informal walkthrough, our interior design specialists discuss window furnishings and how these can feature in their new home. Upon discussing the number of window spaces along with the preferred style and feel that our customers are looking to achieve, we can create an initial quote for Lovelight window furnishing throughout their home.”

Between each of these design appointments most customers do their research, browse Instagram and Pinterest to work out what they want and can afford in their home, often arriving at their Interior Selection Appointment inspired and ready to lock in their choices. “This is an exciting day for our customers as they now select all of the colours, fixtures and fittings for their new home. Every element for their new homes is presented and discussed in detail. Our interior design team have numerous pre-prepared styles for customers to be guided by, or we can help develop a style unique to them. It’s during this meeting that Lovelight window furnishings are discussed in detail. Should our customers want curtains or blinds installed before handover, we request a quote from Lovelight outlining the specifics of the home and our customer's selections.”
