Fresh and Breezy
Up in the idyllic hinterlands of Byron Bay lays one of Lovelight’s most unique projects, and one of the favourite projects of architect Sam Zaher from Zaher Architects.
A 21st century alteration and addition to a 70’s house, the vision for this project was modernise the home for open plan living whilst keeping true to the existing aesthetic and language of the house.
“We usually think of window furnishings right in the beginning,” says Sam, and the client had requirements for practical privacy as well as taking advantage of the expansive views. “When it comes to window furnishings we need something that complements the architecture and the ideas. They are an essential part of the interior, finishing and fitout” Sam remarks.
To allow for the large span windows and ease of adjusting for light in the home Somfy motorised roller blinds were chosen with fabrics from the Proscreen collection in White Lotus and Charcoal Grey colours for the open plan living spaces.
Complementing these simple straight lines a pencil pleat blockout curtains from the Warwick Lavish collection in Fossil were chosen for the bedrooms for “something modern that isn’t going to attract your attention but be practical”.
Reflecting on the project Sam says “the process was really easy. It was all taken care of by Lovelight. Having someone with experience has been in the industry for a while, to meet the client and put their recommendation and bring catalogue of fabrics makes our life a lot easier.”
“It’s a great service we can incorporate as part of our service to our clients. They were professionals and with their expertise I was confident I don’t have to worry about what we’re supplying.”
