Lovelight’s newest client is Terren. A brand new architectural firm offering “an entirely new option in home planning.” Terren has just launched, and is selling Limited Edition architecturally designed, fully engineered and thermally assessed home plans with artfully curated finishes. Ready to build on their clients land by their choice of builder. 

The Terren idea was born out of the founders realising there was seemingly a gap in the home design market between Architect designed plans from scratch and volume builder designed and built homes. Paul described how, “as an architect, I deal with all sorts of different clients and families with, as you can imagine, a huge variance in what they want, need and are willing to spend. I started to notice this pattern of similar problems, barriers and miscommunications between clients, architects and builders... Essentially, it seemed that what most people wanted was access to beautifully designed architectural home plans but they didn’t want to subscribe to the associated time and costs involved.  They also didn’t enjoy being locked in to one particular builder from the outset but rather wanted the freedom and flexibility to have their home built by whomever they chose to trust. So we created Terren as an entirely new option.” 

The Terren idea is essentially pretty simple – a collection of pre-designed architectural plan packages, that are then adjusted to their clients land and chosen specification. Each home has all the architectural features, like 3m high ceilings and full height glazing, as standard but by pre-designing them they are able to be converted for their clients within a matter of weeks and at around half the cost of regular Architectural plans and engineering. Terren does not, however, build the homes so to give their clients the comfort of price surety they have worked with a builder to provide a pre-quoted and verified build price with each design whilst still offering their client’s the freedom to have that home built by any builder they chose. 

Early on in the design process Paul collaborated with Lovelight to “specify and quote a selection of window furnishings for every Terren home. We’ve done this because we know that, by having your window furnishings quoted as part of your pre-supplied build price, we will ensure that high quality window furnishings are never an afterthought but are able to be thoughtfully budgeted for from the outset.”

Lovelight worked with the Terren Architecture team to create a window furnishings package for each of the four Terren designs in their just released Botanical Collection of Dahlia, Wisteria, Juniper and Viola. From colour to material selection, their clients will have the confidence of knowing that every detail, including their window furnishings, has been specified by their architect to work beautifully with the other curated finishes in their home. Paul told us that it was “important for these homes to have every design detail considered from the outset. We have specified details like recessed curtain pelmets, block outs where necessary and S-Fold sheers to add softness. Our clients can of course change the window furnishings during their design consultation, or even later down the track with Lovelight or their builder, but we wanted these designs to ensure that every detail was fully considered from the outset.”
