Middle Park Residence
“We really got to understand what was important to the client and were able to provide expert advice along the way.” Oliver Crust, Site Manager at Cobild
This month we turned our attention to the builders who bring their clients' visions to life. Amidst an absolutely crazy, and dare we say ‘unprecedented’ time, for the construction industry - the Cobild team were generous enough to answer our questions about their newly completed project on Page Street in Middle Park.
As described by the home’s architect - Conrad Architects - “with restraint in form, materiality and detailing, the Middle Park Residence exemplifies truly timeless quality and design, harnessing the subtle power of texture, form and light to create a sanctuary defined by both past and present.”
Browsing through the magnificent images of this project, we can really appreciate the timeless and sophisticated simplicity that both the Architect and builder have brought to life for their clients. From the spiral staircase as the centrepiece to the custom cornice detail that acted as the air conditioning supply in the master bedroom - every element of the single-fronted Edwardian home presents a modern interpretation of heritage detailing.
The inventive spatial planning across the second-story addition, and the quiet luxury of craft and materiality speak to the collaborative effort of the architect and builder.
Both feel that the key to the project's success was early engagement. Cobild told us that, “we were involved from the outset. This allowed great collaboration with the client, their chosen architect and the wider team. We really got to understand what was important to them and were able to provide expert advice along the journey.”
Of course, with a Middle Park location, this project was not without its challenges, “the site was a tight squeeze and access was limited. But, our crew relished the challenge and came up with a way to stage the construction which allowed us to build our way out of the site. We have worked in this area before so the challenges were at least familiar to us and we knew what to expect.”
The effort has clearly all been worthwhile with striking outcomes achieved in both form and function. The team has good reason to be excited by what they ultimately achieved, “the spiral staircase is one of many elements that we are very proud of. There was a lot of on-site coordination and architect input required to get it just right. The time spent was certainly worthwhile though!”
And, when it came to window furnishings the Lovelight team were onboard to advise and assist. As the site manager explained, “working with lovelight was a very easy process. The client and architect were very specific about the window furnishings. They knew exactly what they wanted and Lovelight assisted during the process to provide advice and enable the client to view many different samples both in the showroom and in the space. This resulted in a product that the whole team loves and the client truly appreciates.”
From the Lovelight team’s perspective - we thoroughly enjoy collaborating with Cobild, who undertake many types of projects such as high end residential, workplace and hospitality fit outs as well as multi unit developments. The outcome of a project truly speaks for itself when the clients, Architects, builders and suppliers, are all proud of the incredible result.
