United Places, Botanic Gardens
“Situated in the heart of the prestigious Melbourne suburb of South Yarra and opposite Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens, United Places delivers meticulously curated experiences, steeped in culture and design.”
Over the years the Lovelight team has had the pleasure of working on some creative and utterly interesting projects that allow us to present window furnishings in an entirely new light. Our team loves a challenge so when we were approached by Carr Design Group to be part of the development of a unique new hotel offering in South Yarra, we were intrigued and interested to say the least.
The idea was to create a brand that combined the excitement of a hotel stay with the simple pleasures of home. Ben Esakoff, the creative director for United Places told us that, “keeping to this vision, guests experience spacious rooms with premium amenities and a personalised concierge service to ensure their stay is as comfortable as possible.”
To launch this ambitious project United Places collaborated with a number of other esteemed Australian creatives. Melbourne creative studio ‘Projects of Imagination’ were brought in to create the brand identity, and award-winning chef Scott Pickett, of Matilda, helped to develop the property’s in-house restaurant.
Then, when it came to the interior fit out of the rooms, Carr Designs wanted each of the twelve suites to embody its own bespoke personality. This carried through to the window furnishings where richly textured velvet curtains were used to reflect and respond to the views outside, “the Urban Suites have views of the neighborhood’s historic Victorian mansions and red brick industrial apartments, here we specified romantic dusty pink velvet curtains. Then the Garden Suites, overlooking the moving trees of the Royal Botanic Gardens, are framed by deep-green, richly textured, velvet curtains.”
To further enhance both the theatre and feeling of indulgent relaxation of the rooms, the Lovelight curtains were motorized and programmed to smoothly open on their rounded tracks at the push of a button. And, just like that, the stage is set.
Imagine waking up in your king sized suite. Your silent room goes from complete blissful block out to streaming sunshine as your personal concierge calls to say that yesterday’s laundry has been done, your private picnic in the botanical gardens will be set up for noon and in the meantime would you like your chef-hatted breakfast in bed or on your private terrace?! All just part of the entirely personalised experience that United Places offers every guest. How could we not be proud to be part of a project like this.
Now, as the state begins to reopen, is the perfect time to experience the United Places bespoke offering first hand with a reimagined, fully flexible and reduced rate offering for stays before 31 August 2020. Tell them Lovelight sent you.
