Victoria One
Towering high above Melbourne’s bustling academic district, Victoria One commands awe-inspiring views of the state that inspired its design and construction. As award-winning Melbourne architecture firm and Lovelight partners Elenberg Fraser point out, the aptly named Victoria One is an ode to Australia’s lush garden state, an explosion of ideas inspired by the state’s coasts, rainforests, gardens, and waterfalls, its cliffs and ranges.
“The palette of materials is inspired by the environment outdoors with elemental tones and textures – earth, rock, water and vegetation,” the firm, who worked with Melbourne developers Golden Age to bring the monumental tribute to life, writes. According to Golden Age, their vision was to bring nature and modern design together in order to create a future Melbourne landmark, “a conscious and deliberate expression of everything that is uniquely Victorian”.
Whilst Elenberg Fraser worked with Golden Age and veteran Melbourne construction firm Probuild to bring elements like the building’s opulent glass façade to life, Lovelight played a supporting role in helping to fit the 629 luxury apartments inside with the right window furnishings. The furnishings had to allow access to the surrounding vistas whilst offering privacy and intimacy, as well as fitting seamlessly into Elenberg Fraser’s vision and adhering to strict building requirements.
Lovelight fitted each apartment with dual roller blinds to filter or block out the ample natural light that floods into each floor. Dark, charcoal tones not only compliment the apartments’ grey hardwoods and minimalist design, but were required as a result of the project’s prominent glass construction, which has light beaming into each of its 75 storeys. This required expert time management on the part of Lovelight and significant collaboration with Probuild.
Lovelight went in ahead of time to measure and price the project as a whole, which meant furnishings could be chosen and installed prior to final settlement. Our online portal expedited the process further, allowing tenants and landlords alike to simply login, select their desired blinds, and pay online. From there, we were able to install the furnishings before final settlement, which meant landlords were immediately able to begin leasing and owners could sleep sounder knowing their Saturday morning sleep-in would not be disturbed by the Victorian sun.
Lovelight worked within Elenberg Fraser’s minimalist style for the 629 apartments.
